I hope that vid works...

Storm watch, Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, Weather News - weather.com

For those of you who are new to the State I hope you are taking some precautions just in case this one gets nasty.

The biggest problem will be power outages and travel difficulties. If your house is heated with only Electricity be sure that you have a SAFE way of keeping warm. Keep some food on hand that won't need to be cooked and bottled water if your house uses an electric pump to get water.

Also go out and check to be sure the power lines to your house are clear of ANY potential problems... If you have any trees or tall bushes nearby the branches will bend from the weight of the ice and wind up ON your power lines.

If this storm is as bad as 2007 you could be looking at a week or more without power depending on your location.

Plan ahead, be careful and stay safe y'all!! Oh yeah...and cross your fingers that this storm fizzles out!!

If anyone else has good advice please post.

I'm south on Lake Texoma, and I'm hoping this misses us somehow. You folks up north are in for it.

I hope it's just the pretty ice, and no outages for all....ice storms suck!

Was without power for 4 days last time (2007)... stayed in the house for 3 days until the temp in the house was below 32. Spent two night in a hotel, the last night was to let the house warm up before we went back and to enjoy the pool and hot tub before going home.

We are already preparing as well....have a hotel # on speed dial.

Do not forget to charge up whatever you might need. Cell phones, DVD players, portable game players, flashlights, etc.

This pic was taken on our road on 1/27/09. A very good storm it was! The only soul on the road was some farmer who braved the icy roads to go break ice for his cattle.

So THAT'S why the rest of us are freezing our socks off! Need help packing??

Prerunner, Great suggestion!

In the Tulsa thread Sarahsez mentioned remembering to lift your windshield wipers AWAY from the windshield so they don't get frozen to the glass. Ours got FIRMLY frozen in '07 because I forgot to do that!

Today's weather is making this *threat* REALLY hard to believe... we were in the mid 60's with sunshine all day. I'm not willing to take chances though.

MK likes to play in the snow...he just loads a riding mower into his truck for traction and pulls out the silly people in tiny cars.

But who will pull MK out if he gets stuck?
