Hi everyone,

How much could it cost do get a car driving license for an adult? How long could it take?
I've looked at the websites of some driving schools and it seems pretty fast, roughly a couple of months, did I get it right?!

Thanks a lot!

It's been so long that I don't recall. Plus, I had a license from another state when we moved to NE.

Because most government websites are more confusing than helpful, I'd suggest just going into a DOT office and talking to them personally.

What part of Omaha are you in? If you're anywhere in midtown or toward the east, I'd recommend going to the DOT up on far North 30th Street. It's never as busy as some of the others.

Thank you, unfortunately the DOT office you suggested me it's too far away. Not having a car, I have to rely on buses, but thanks a lot again because I couldn't find the info you gave me. And the prices are far lower than expected!

There's one at about 78th & Cass, one on South 50th, and one at about 108th & Maple.

I really have no idea what would be required for you, but when our kids were getting their licenses, we had the option of driving school, or they could log 50 hours driving with me. We opted for the latter. Then it was just a written test, and a driving test.

Good luck!

I think I'll have to get a Class O license. I already have one from my country, I'll see what is required for me as soon as I get to Omaha but it's nice to start with having an idea of how things work there.

Thank you!!!

You will need a passport, proof of resident, some sort of picture ID. What part of Omaha will b living in? A new lic will cost you around 25.00. If in doubt bring everything that proves you r who u are.

You have to prove resident and who u are. You'll have to take a drivers written and driving exam.

The 15/55 turns into the 30 which will take you to far north 30th.

Don't hold me to it, but I believe that the above is correct:

A) If you are over 18 there is no need for a driver's training class.
B) If you are not already licensed in another state. If you are, I'm not sure what happens. In your case having one from another country is a mystery to me. It might work the same way as another state.

You'll need to prove residency as outlined above (two forms of mail should suffice), then you take a written exam and if you pass you get a learner's permit, which you need to drive on the roads while you "learn" or wait to take the don the road driving test. Once you have that you just show up and take a driving test. If you pass, you get your license.
