Hi everybody,

My husband and I are looking to buy a car in Omaha, hopefully this Sunday.
As we are new to the area (actually we dont even live there quite yet, moving in 3-4 weeks) we are wondering where a good place to look for both used and new cars would be. THANKS!!!!!!

For used, I would definitely check out the Car Max at 180th Dodge. There are several new car dealerships in that area as well.

First of all, make sure they are open on Sunday. Some are some aren't. I have had no prior experience with CarMax but have heard good things and will try it for my next car purchase. I like the idea of no hassle.

I had a pleasant experience with Plaza GMC when helping a friend purchase a vehicle.

Lots of people from my area seem to purchase vehicles from Woodhouse in Blair.

What type of make/model are you looking for?

I bought a used car from Atchley Ford on 72nd st between Military and Fort....they treated us decent, and I'd have no problems buying another one there.

I was also looking at cars in Omaha for after I move there (if I do)....for car max, you can look up the cars online and later visit the dealership - I recommend this...you can also print out a vehicle history report online for each car!

I highly trust Gene Steffy in Fremont for both new and used cars... have bought my last three cars there (1 new, 1 one year old, and 1 with 75,000 miles) and had a great experience each time. One thing I appreciated, they ran a CarFax on the two used cars before I even asked for it... the higher mileage car the original owner had purchased from them and they did most of the service on it - so they gave me the cars history report as well (as much as they had from their shop).

LaVista Auto Plex at 7301 S. 85th St. just to the west of 84th is a good dealership in my opinion.

Wait till you register the car, your in for a surprise. I'm from Ohio & our license plates cost $55.00 a year for a 2007 Truck, In Omaha it's few hundred dollars.
