I live in Santa Ana not far from Warner & Raitt. That area is not too bad. I'm one of the few non-mexicans in Santa Ana. We need more non-mexicans here!

Nothing bad has happened to me, just irritated at the loud mexican music coming from the gang infested mexican ghetto cars driving around here

Gosh of course I'm not considering relocation! CA is my home!
My 100K can buy me a decent condo in SoCal (just may be not in OC or LA county), why relocation?
I've been and lived all over the US before--wouldn't want to live anywhere other than CA. I'm a stranger in places outside here...
I know one can buy a mansion away from here... but my entire life is in SoCal. My mother owns a house in North Cal--I wouldn't even live in North Cal.

Good to know! I noticed a big high school in the area and lots of kids wandering and hanging around... so I was curious if these kids tend to start trouble.

It's hard to find a place without gang activity now... even upscale areas of West LA have it (at night). Anywhere where people pay for drugs, there're gangs.
Frankly, when some kid grew up going to school where they didn't even get to learn to write in English and their fate is to work some toxic unhealthy job for $8/hr for the rest of their life... I can't even blame them for joining a gang.

That's Segerstrom High School. A potential welcome to Santa Ana!

I'll bet there's a really good reason why homes cost so little in the Atlanta area. Probably has something to do with the lack of jobs or the high crime rate. Those homes would go for much more if that was a desirable place to live.

Atlanta has a lousy unemployment rate at 10.2% but that is not as bad as LA's unemployment rate. Also, those homes are in a good suburban school district far away from the central city similar to Mission Viejo.

Mission Viejo High School - 8 out of 10 rating

Grayson High School - 8 out of 10 rating

Now these are examples of homes in a bad area for a really low price.

183 Burbank Drive Southwest, Atlanta GA - Trulia

257 Burbank Drive Northwest, Atlanta GA - Trulia

I would imagine there would also be an insanely long commute to downtown ATL.

According to Google Maps, it's only 30 miles from Grayson to downtown Atlanta. That's less than half the distance most people drive from Temecula to OC and many people do it. We don't have property that cheap in the Temecula valley, so I don't think the commute time has much to do with it.

No idea. I do know that Atlanta is one place I would have no interest at all in moving to. Even if I were given one of those homes. The Summers are horrible (humidity, flying cockroaches galore. Overall unpleasant).
