Irvine wasn't even on our list when we looked for a place. Just didn't like it and didn't like the trend it is going. And it's not about money at all.
Sounds like you have more issues than just Irvine

Downtowns create traffic, noise and attract homeless and other vagrants, no thanks. You move to a more suburban area to AVOID a downtown, not create one. Thats like moving to an urban area and complaining its crowded and there are no open spaces. That being said, Ive listed plenty of things Irvine has to do many other cities do not have, even cities in an urban area.

lol I was thinking the same thing.

I wouldn't want to live there, but I do have family members with children who live there and they love it.

I do notice that the kids/parents are ultra competitive with school and sports. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing?

Nothing wrong with living in a nice area like Irvine. If you want the "night life", you drive to one of those trashier cities like LA. Have your fun, then drive back home. That's what cars are for.

Like puppies, you don't shlt where you sleep.

I never said there was anything wrong with living in Irvine.

I wouldn't mind living in LA.

This. The people in this forum who want big, vibrant downtowns and walkable cities with raging nightlife everywhere are delusional and in the completely wrong area. Pack up and move to LA, bye I have MORE than enough to do out here. In the last week or so Ive been to a playoff hockey game, Angels baseball game, 2 big concerts, been to the beach, gone to Disneyland and eaten at a ton of great restaurants. I didn't drive more than 20 minutes for any of it either, Irvine would be about the same drive for all that too. Anyone who could be bored out here is nuts.

Default superstitions in culture

A lot of superstitious Asian people live in Irvine. Fen Sui believes in the way houses face mean something, certain numbers are good or bad luck, crystals bring energy, lion statues at the front door ward of bad spirits, fountains bring happiness and so forth. Very immature and scared thinking for any culture.
