I just got finished reading the good and bad of OC....I am afraid the bad parts were pretty overwhelming, but not surprising....but the good I noticed about that thread is how many people are like ME. Midwesterners, and southerners...where ARE you guys? I live up in Ventura county...and I havent met not one transplant...well..some I have met are here from the NE, but they have been gone for 20 or so yrs. we are thinking about moving down to OC because there seems to be more going on and there is newer development and I like the presence of the higher educational institutions around. Now, however after reading that thread...I dont know where the heck to go here to meet and live around just normal, genuine people. People that you connect with and socialize with and form lasting friendships and memories. Is that type of connection just lost cause to southern CA?

We lived in Anaheim in the early to mid 80's; there were many, many transplants from the Midwest and the East Coast. My husband and I were very young at the time (just turned early 20's). I wouldn't believe all the negative stuff on the threads; there's nice people as well as nasty people in all of the states. Truthfully, I'd rather live in larger cities than the confines of small town America. My advice for making friends is to be a friend, or at least someone that has a smile on their face, easy-going, and get involved with things that you enjoy. You will find like-minded people there who share similiar interests. Wishing you the best.
