Teslas, which I like, are de riguer in coastal OC. I find them to be very overpriced but they buy a certain cache which, were you to introduce a 35-38K Model 3, would evaporate.
EDIT: LIke Saibot, I wouldn't buy one.

This seems to be happening with alarming frequency. They are lucky no one was killed and there was no fire.
My in-laws in Lake Forest had a bad garage fire (and my father-in-law narrowly escaped being killed) when a Tesla Model X which may or may not have been on autopilot slammed into their house last August. The battery was still burning nine hours later. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal just a couple of weeks ago which mentioned this specific incident and the 4 or 5 Tesla autopilot/fire cases which are being investigated by the NTSB.
Looks like this will be another one. Even if I could afford one, at this point I wouldn't touch a Tesla with a ten-foot pole.

I like the concept, but I hate this push towards auto pilot. It's insane to me. Computer AI is not advanced enough to safely navigate the random chaos of a simple drive to the grocery store. It's simply not there.
This is what happens when you rush engineering to meet product launches. I think Tesla's problem here extends beyond just software fixes... perhaps these cars need more physical sensors and/or better sensor placement, either of which could be very costly for Tesla.
Regardless, I think they owe it to customers to disable Autopilot until they fix the issues with the system. I would imagine they have enough crash data now to do this.

You can do all sorts of magic with digital image processing... The technology is certainly there.
That being said, I have lane departure warning and "lane keeping assist" on my car.... 25% of the time, the system can't detect the lanes correctly, especially if the painted lines are washed out or missing.
