So you're against smaller government and lower taxes?

There's an ignorant city called San Francisco that would welcome you with open arms. You should move there. You're not welcome here in "Red" Orange County.

If I'm not mistaken, Orange County is the biggest suburban county in the country. That's why the GOP does so well there.
And OC is primarily Middle Class not wealthy. Wealthy areas exist, but in the main Middle Class, where most Republicans come from.

I don't think the current Republican party fits as well with OC values as it did in the 60s, 70s and 80s. People in OC don't seem particularly socially/religiously conservative, at least they didn't used to be. They basically just want lower taxes and efficient government but still believe in things like good public schools. I just don't see things there as being like the rural South, which is really now the heart of the GOP. I can't imagine the people in my old Dana Point neighborhood being enamored with a candidate like Rick Santorum or Rick Perry.

Very true...Orange county republicans are republicans because of fiscal policies... NOT social issues.

I think the term that best defines them is "Country Club Republicans" They're too busy making money to worry about distractions like abortion and gay marriage. That's for the religious yokels out in boonieville whom they use to vote for low taxes.

While South County isn't Bible Belt religious, it's religious enough to support the other Rick and his megachurch with its evangelical message...

We did have our share of Jesus freaks at DHHS that at the time were associated with Calvary Chapel. I assume some of them became Rick's megachurchers.

What is a "repubican"? How does it differ from a "democrat"? All I see are "repubicrats" I don't think there is a difference...
