Really, though to the OP, I find it funny what the guy said to you about not fitting in.
And like others have said here, drugs aren't prevalent and outwardly expressed; just more accepted. We aren't all druggies walking around and there is still a strong negative stigma attached to them socially.
I am not embarrassed to admit that I am materialistic and superficial. I like to spend money on things that can be seen (tangible items) and things that will make me look good. If it goes up my nose, that pretty much defeats the purpose. What's the point if no one can see it? Poof up in smoke...
