it was really a bit of a bizarre post. In a perfectly pleasant thread, someone comes in to rant about atheists complaining about bible thumping and beating up on Christians, then describes people's lives as "sad."

The only one being adversarial and nasty is the one complaining about people being adversarial.

Godless is all there is, there are some who believe otherwise and that is their choice.

A sad life IMO is one dictated by shame, superstitions and ancient explanations of mystery.

The happiest times in my life have been since I left the "god phase" of my life, I have always been accountable for my actions and choices, leaving the "god beliefs" has no connection to my living a life accountable for my actions and a deep concern for the greater good.

Wikipedia says:
A 2003 study, released once every 10 years, listed Benton County (of which Corvallis makes up the majority of the population) as the least religious county per capita in the United States.

That doesn't surprise me

It also lists LDS, Seventh Day Adventist and Jehovah’s Witness as the Major Religions in the county.

There is a reason you are not allowed to use Wikipedia for College reference material.

That isn't actually true, it depends entirely on what you are referencing. There is even an MLA-style approved format for quoting a Wiki article.

I find that Wikipedia is a little off center sometimes, but more often accurate.

Thanks for these stats. This and the climate are the two main reasons I want to live in Oregon.

Gallup (yes, I know they are a bit suspect after the election polls) just came out with their most religious states ranking. We ended up being 45th.

Thought I would throw this out there for people who want to relocate here since this question seems to come up often on the forum.
That was pretty interesting, Silverfall ... and enlightening. I would have thought Oregon to be more religious than California but it turns out, that's not true. Even at this old age, I learn something new every day.

What I find shocking is that the town I live in has more Jahova's Witness and LDS than all other faiths combined.

That is because they are door knockers and actively protholize. LDS stats are probably reliable, JW likely not as much.
