I wonder if they knew about the Walmart they're building.

What criteria? What report? We need some context here, such as a link.

The CNN Money article is an example of utter idiocy.
I happen to know a few of the communities listed there, and would not want to live in any of them.

Here is what they say about Sherwood:

It's also an easy commute to the likes of Nike in Beaverton, Intel in Hillsboro, and a plethora of high-tech and medical jobs.

They actually used the word "plethora" in this context?

Plethora means an uncomfortable overage; it isn't synonymous with "abundance."

Anyway, Sherwood seems like a great place.

At the bottom of the article they say the numbers were crunched by Onboard Informatics. All the criteria is explained here: Best Places to Live 2013 - Methodology - Money Magazine

I find the petty comments following the CNN Money article labeling it "predictable", 'biased", "dart throwing," etc., sour grapes ad nauseam simply because ones town or state wasn't mentioned. Even poor Sherwood gets hammered.

I saw this on the 6:30 Koin News Broadcast. They know about the WalMart. The mayor said he is not happy about it but there is nothing he can do about it. That's as far as the discussion went. He said that he is happy the town is prospering but that he doesn't want it to grow too large. All in all, he and the others interviewed seemed to take it all in stride. There was no boasting, just people saying they liked their town and were happy to be living there.

Downgrade a community because it has a Wal-Mart?? Are you joking.

The overwhelming majority of citizens like Wal-Mart. How do you think they got to be the largest retailer in the United States - and the world, for that matter?

Why do you think that the haters are always accusing Wal-Marts of creating traffic problems? It's because so many people shop at them.

Where is the "you" coming from here? This isn't about WalMart, it's about the Town of Sherwood.

In the interview I saw on the news, the the mayor wasn't saying the town of Sherwood would be downgraded by the WalMart moving in. What he said was, "Well, it's their land," and then a shoulder-shrug-whatta-ya-gonna-do-about-it kind of thing like it wasn't that big a deal. I didn't hear any hating going on.

He really didn't seem all that concerned. He only addressed the situation because the reporter mentioned it.

He seemed like a really nice guy by the way, who really took pride in his town. I always like Sherwood from way back when I lived in Tigard for a brief period of time back in the 80's. Nice to see it be rewarded.
