Hello everyone,
We (me, wife, 4 kids, 4 dogs) are moving to southern Oregon from Ohio this spring. We have been checking the usual sources like craigslist, the paper, and property management websites for rental homes, and the wife and I are flying in around Valentines Day to scout some possibles. The thing is, we figure we are missing out on some prospects since we are not yet local, and are hoping that anyone who knows of any homes (4 BR and up) from Ashland to GP that might just be a "sign in the yard" kind of thing could give us a heads up, since we'll only have 3 days to check around ourselves. We're looking for a family neighborhood and/ or a little land, and happy for any leads or suggestions. Thanks very much!

Ramsey Realty in Ruch is managing a property for us. Its not for rent, but they seem to know the layout. Their main office may be in Jacksonville. Ruch has a Jacksonville address. Next to Medford. Maybe give them a call and ask what they know of, or what will be available.

Why are rental homes on Craigs List for Medford - Talent - Phoenix (OR) - Ashland as low as just $600 a month (along with Bend, OR)? This compares to $800+ in Carson City, NV; and also in Eugene, OR; and well over $1100 in Flagstaff, Durango, Santa Fe, and Boulder.

Is this due to the housing crisis, or, has southern Oregon always supported cheap rentals?

If someone could telecommute or start a home based business from Southern Oregon, that's a real bargain.

Its due to Carson City being near South Lake Tahao, Flagstaff is in Arizona and everything in that state is expensive, believe me, Durango is a Tourist Trap, ski in the winter, water rafting, and other aminities during the summer, Casino nearby, and Santa Fe besides being the state capital of NM, is where all the famous artists, and alot of movie stars live. They also make alot of movies up there. We that live in the state DON'T go up there even to drive through, there is nothing for native born New Mexicans up there...it is also a big tourist trap. In all reality, even the $600. you are complaining about is very high to us....According to ABC world news....I live just 45 miles away from the most dangerous city in the world (Juarez, Mexico) So believe me when I say if I could find a place up that way I would be out of here in a minute...You are very lucky...I live in fear everyday...
