Hi all,

I am moving to Orlando soon for work. I am in my early 20s and will be working in Dr Phillips.

I've been looking at the Hunters Creek area for apartments (Camden Hunters Creek and Courtney Chase Apts) but am concerned about safety. I was told to stay away from Metrowest and OBT for safety reasons and don't want to be in another bad area.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hunter's Creek is a very, very nice area. Very safe. The recent crimes there seem to be mostly domestic-related. Your friend is right about Orange Blossom Trail (lots of crime, drugs, prostitutes) and Metro West is crime-ridden as well.

Hunter's Creek is way nicer than south OBT or Metrowest IMO

The area of OBT running through hunter's creek is very safe, and a lot nicer than the areas north of the Florida Mall

I agree. The areas south of South Chase around where the SuperTarget are pretty nice and OBT is only really bad in the areas north of the 528. The area south of the 528 gradually gets nicer but it is still unattractive until about Central Florida Pkwy or so.

The part of OBT between Colonial Drive and Sand Lake Rd is a no no. Too much crime in that part.

You can't get any safer than Hunters Creek. It's like an oasis in Orlando. And the saying about OBT doesn't seemt to ring true in Hunters Creek. Don't know why, but it's nice! Good luck!

Yeah you can. It's called Windermere, Winter Park, or Dr Phillips.

Hunter's Creek has been in the news recently a lot more than those other areas with a few murders, robberies etc. Don't get me wrong, it's overall a decent area, but I wouldn't say its the safest in Orlando.

What they say.. it's funny, about OBT. You can pretty much visually tell where it goes bad. Some parts are perfectly fine.. and then, boom.
