We as a family, want to move to Orlando, FL. We have already visited and were looking for houses. The problem is, my husband needs to find a job first. He has a bachelor's degree in human services and he is pursuing a master's in mental health counseling. He now works with the youth as a residential counselor. He would love to find a job as a case manager, court counselor or something in the field of working with the youth. But it's so hard to try to find a job there (FL) when we are here (NC). We have children that will be attending school. (3rd grade thru 9th). Is there someone out there that can help us? Do you know anyone that is hiring. We are ready to go!!!! Thanks!

What part of NC? I would think working with the youth would be in demand in Orlando.

You know that was my question too. LOL Why also?

To the OP, I would figure out where you'd be working first. There are alot of nice and safe areas around with good schools. Sorry, I can't help with emplyment but I'd start with all the major employment sites. (myflorida.com, monster, indeed, careerbuilder, and Craigslist)

Good luck!

LOL, I just saw a lot of youth that could be whipped into shape and needed some "guidance." I'll just put it that way. Where I lived we had some hoodlums lol.

The reason we want to leave (NC) is because it's BORING here. We live in a small town of 14,000. A nice place to raise a family but there is not much for the children to do. Plus my husband can't seem to find a decent job even in the bigger cities around us, like Greensboro. We think it will be better opportunities for us as a family there. Are we wrong? Does grass just SEEM greener on the other side?????

I am a FL native... born in FL, lived in Orlando and now in Asheville. I can tell you my positives and negatives to each, if you want to know my thoughts.

Not to be "Debbie-downer" but the job situation is actually worse here (much higher unemployment rates) and the "things-to-do list" isn't that big either. Believe it or not you'll find that going to the theme parks frequently becomes not only expensive, but kind of boring after awhile....especially when every visiting friend/relative drags you there. The grass is always greener concept lives on as a result and explains why the "halfback migration" exists to this day. Halfbackers are those that moved down from the NE US to FL for greener pastures only to discover it's not what they had in mind, then moved halfway back to the NE US, settling in the Carolinas. I would urge you to widen your scope and let viable job opportunity help shape where to move, as well as well-rounded family-friendly locations with good schools. Good luck!

We fled NC... The grass is greener here in Orlando then it was in NC.... No doubt...For us anyway< We Love FL. NJ will always be home but Florida is our new home. I called The Raleigh area snoresville! Nothing to do but go to a mall!

We made $10k more this year here in FL then in NC. The employment situation has been great for us here so far. This is probably one of the many reasons why I love it here.
