Publix sushi is passable, but not really "good". Hoping to find good sushi in Orlando, because it's one of the few things we have good in Columbia SC and I'm sad to leave it. There is some good sushi at Disney (Kona Sushi bar at the Polynesian resort- and I've heard good things about Kimono's at the Swan but haven't had it myself) but it's VERY pricey. Of course, nothing is going to compare to food in NYC where there are so many great options.

I'm more of a Floridian who's lived all over the country. The one thing I wish we had most here....fresh cold water seafood.

Just get me a Meyer Store and I can get all the things that I need. Walmart doesn't quite meet the one-stop shopping pleasure that Meyer has with it's fresh, good fruit and vegtables.

The locally owned Sushi restaurants here are all pretty good. There are well over 60 sushi joints in the metro area but the best in my opinion are:

Restaurant-area-price

Shari-Thornton Park-$$$$
Seito-Winter Park Village, Baldwin Park, Sand Lake-$$$
Ichiban-Downtown-$$$
Bento-Downtown, Sandlake-$
Bikkuri-Colonialtown-$
Fuji-Winter Park-$$
Amura-Downtown, Lake Mary-$$$
Wazzabi-Winter Park-$$$

Best overall - Seito

Amen to that. Wal-Mart is a disgrace compared to Meyer.

In Indiana we have Meijer - is that the same store? If so you are so right - the quality far surpasses Walmart and a lot of the store brands are just as good as "name brands" - yep, I'm gonna miss Meijer's.

I do hear good things about Publix though so I'll see how we like it

Doh! You're right, and I know better, it is Meijer. Last time I was in Michigan, I just walked around the store. A lady asked me if I wanted a Meijer card and I told her that if they built in Florida, I would get one.

My husband is from Pittsburg, Pa. and misses 'chipped' ham from Isley's. I buy chipped ham at the deli here but he says it just isn't the same. I heard, tho, that Isley's went out of business. Poor hubby, he used to bring back all sorts of goodies from there when he goes to visit his dad.

Oh man, I totally miss (and excuse my spelling) Mrs. Fronows Brunswick Stew, they don't sell that here. It was so harty and wonderful to have on a chilly day. :P
