I saw in the news about two black bears fighting in someone's front yard in Longwood. I'm curious if anyone has seen/heard of any bears in the NE side of town? I'm in Winter Springs, which still has a lot of open spaces and wooded areas, so I thought they might be around here, also.

I don't know any specific instances lately but I know growing up there are lots of black bears all over Seminole County. Because of the Wekiva River Basin and St. Johns rivers wild areas bears travel fairly easily across the county.

I'm yet to see one, but I think it would be cool. They have bear crossing signs in Sorrento. Guess when they are in the woods up there they can walk.

Interesting. Does anyone know where the nearest bear crossing sign can be found to the Winter Springs/Oviedo area? It's worth a photo.

I haven't seen any signs in the Winter Springs/Oviedo area. Today the news reported that FL has taken steps to remove the black bear from the threatened species list, although they can't be hunted.
Here is a picture my friend took of a mother and her two cubs when we were at Rock Springs Park aprox. 3 weeks ago!
