I think I hear the "Day of Our Lives" music playing in the background.

Man I hope he stays with the Magic! He met with the GM today, so hopefully that's a good sign.

But there is the other thought too. If he does get traded this year at least the Magic should be able to trade for some first round pics and get a potential OK player or 2. Next year he can walk anyway , can't he? and the Magic get nothing. Which is the better way to go?

Waiting to see what changes he wants to get him to stay and is he meaning changes that will make him sign a new contract possibly next year too. After all, today he says he loves living in Orlando.

When I heard the news today I was thinking maybe the Magic were looking to make the trade but not to the Nets where he said he wanted to go.....maybe they were looking way out west to trade? Not up on all this but if the Magic trade him he does not get to choose where, right?

Not necessarily, under the old and new CBA their are caps on how much a player can make. Unlike baseball and football NBA players can only be offered unfathomable amounts of money...to a certain point. Whichever team he gets traded will make the max offer, other teams can match the offer but no exceed.

" Not up on all this but if the Magic trade him he does not get to choose where, right?"

That's mostly correct. Technically his contract rights belong to the Magic who, as any owner, can choose to do how whatever they like with those rights. However, Dwight does have leverage because he has the choice to re-sign or leave whatever team he gets traded to (if that happens). So essentially he can kill any trade by saying he would refuse to resign with that team and which at that point would make most teams walk away from any potential deal.
