I guess it's a situation that snow birds may be in. Can it be done?

I know I'd need Florida insurance of course but not sure what else. Anyone have any experience doing this?

My neighbors are snowbirds but leave a car here year round. It is registered to the husband, he had to obtain a FL DL to register it.

You can.

All you have to have is Florida Insurance, a Florida license, and proof of where you live in Florida (utility bill, insurance paperwork, credit card bill, ect, ect.)

Florida used to issue "Valid Only in Florida" licenses for people that were virtually "snowbirds" but they stopped in 2009. If you get a license in Florida, you have to give up your out of state license and declare residence in Florida.

PS--Neighbors aren't US citizens, he was not required to give up his UK license.

And there's the rub. I don't want to give up my out-of-state license since FL is not my legal residence.

Anyone know if leasing a car through a FL dealer would work? It's not an option I'm crazy about but I'd consider it.
