Is It Just me or is this year's rain been a lot heavier than in the past? Just a few months ago the lakes and ponds in my area were all drying up, now they're overflowing. They didnt get this high last year and even on the few sunny days we do get, our back and front yards are constantly soggy. And is the rain alos lasting more than just a few hours now? Seems like we get a lot mroe all day type rain thats usually exclusive to seattle, and the Northeast

We're still lower than we should be, but have cleared some of the deficit.

So do we re-enter drought conditions every winter? I know TS Debbie last year wiped out all of Florida's drought conditions.

This happens every year. The news gets all crazy when it doesn't rain and then crazy about flooding during the rainy season although it seems rained more in the past few weeks than normal. I have had to empty my pool several times.

Annerk we may be in a deficit still but the 1/2 inch of persistent standing water in my backyard begs to differ (I'm not saying you're wrong, just that my backyard is wet)

I have a friend in Hunters Creek who's pool I take care of on Wednesdays and we have been doing pretty big backwashes these past few weeks

We got nearly three inches of rain just yesterday in the Sanford area and had heard yesterday on a weather report (SiriusXM) that our year-to-date number was only at +0.8%. Though I guess three inches in one day (and more on the way) should increase the overall number pretty quickly.

The problem is that the heat pulls so much of it into the atmosphere that in three days time with no rain, that 3" is gone like the wind. A few days of heavy rain can't cure a drought. Don't water your law for the next three months and see how we'll it fares.

That said I don't use my tub very often as I feel guilty "wasting" 10 showers worth of water on one bath. Given the rain lately, I very we'll may indulge sometime in the next few days.

The Thunder two days ago was CRAZY! I enjoy the rain so I don't mind my yard, and the street Floods every time we get hard rain, But they dry up in minutes after the rain.
