Hello All,

I am coming from MA but did live in FL while in undergrad and moved back. My parents presently live in orlando, so I don't want to leave too far from them but I don't think i'd want to live in Orlando. I have an 8 yr old and I am looking for areas with good schools. We are in private schools here in MA but I am looking to enrolling my daughter into a public school if we do move.

I just need help finding good areas with good schools, it doesn't have to specifically have to be in windermere or winter garden, but definitely not ocoee and orlando.

My budget to rent is $1200-$1400 for a 2 bedroom home/apt/condo or whatever. At this time, I will continue working for my present employer while in FL and hope to find something else within a year.

I'm kind of lost and just looking for some advice on the different areas to look into, the good schools and any other info you may feel is relevant to my search.

Winter Park, Windermere (Olympia High), Lake Mary and Dr Phillips have good public schools. Winter Park being the best.

I will search in those areas, but I wanted to add that I am a single african-american/west indian women, so I am looking for a diverse area that is also welcoming. I just don't want to live in orlando.

This may be out the way but check out Clermont its nice small town with good schools and its diverse so I think you should consider it. Also Celebration is nice if your into that kind of manufactured community with manicured yards or cookie cutter houses which is not bad for families IMO. Other than that Oviedo, Winter Springs, Longwood in Seminole County are options to look as well.

That would be a good move. Clermont is close enough to "Orlando proper" Nice area, new homes. Should have no problems there regardless of race.
