Depends where you live.
Anyone living, say, in Ocoee/Winter Garden needing to travel anywhere downtown and beyond is pretty much going to have to use 408. a 15-20 minute drive with tolls is MUCH better than having to deal with Colonial all the way through.
Likewise, if you live anywhere NW of Orlando (Mt Dora etc.) and need to get INTO Orlando, 429/Turnpike/408 are the only realistic options.

Even without I4 ultimate, if that were fixed, Orlando's i4 traffic problems would shrink significantly.
So without paying for toll roads that benefit will at least be added.
I've been saying this forever. The illogical design of that interchange creates backups even at odd hours.
I was driving Eastbound last night at 11PM, and there was some pretty heavy congestion in that area just from people trying to merge into the sole lane, which was, in itself, gridlocked.

Honesty, It really depends where you live in the Orlando area. You will rarely take a toll road if you live and work closer to I-4, downtown or some of the surrounding cities like Winter Park, Maitland or Altamonte Springs. I lived in Winter Park for a time and rarely took a toll road. Now I live around the Winter Springs/Oviedo area, which is close to a toll road and I spend on average $50 dollars a month on tolls traveling 2-3x a week for work and pleasure. Its simply something that I budgeted for like gas and forget about now. I hope this helps!

Thanks chop chop. I think the wife and I will be coming to the Orlando metro more often in the next few years. I might as well get used to it. Mom was telling me Publix has transponders you can put in any car, but she didnt know the price on those. Next time Im there Ill pick one up since I dont need a Florida license for one.

That sounds like a fair price and from what I have read they are easy to reload with money. With this device I am able to just drive without all the toll stops rights?

Yes, but you can drive through them without one also. They have what they call "toll-by-plate" which just sends you a bill in the mail once a month. I believe the charge is an extra $0.20 per toll, which can add up pretty fast. Lots of new toll roads don't have manned stations anymore, so it's either you have sunpass or you just go through and get a bill. There are signs when you get on. The new Erica Parkway is like that (the finished portion) as are some of the roads in Tampa.
