I want to move to Florida in the Orlando area if i get a position I have applied for. It is a work from home position. It doesn't need to be close to Disney or anything BUT i do want it to be in a safe quiet area in the Orlando area. For around 130,000 or less. It's just me i don't need a big house. I just really want to feel safe where i live. Any thoughts?

You should rent and keep saving until you can afford a better home. Look around Lake Mary.

Are you willing to buy a townhome? There's a nice community on Grand Highway in Clermont that has a couple of units for sale under your budget. I have friends who live there, it's friendly, quiet, and safe.

Check out Wekiva in the Longwood/Altamonte Springs area which is a beautiful well-established planned community where you can find nice townhomes/condos in the mid 130s-mid 140s asking price.

You should be able to find affordable, safe townhomes/condos in that area.
It typically looks like this:

Kyle,

When you said Wekiva, do you mean the Wekiva Springs area? I too am looking to relocate to Orlando in the near future and have pin pointed my results down to Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Longwood, Casselberry, Winter Springs, or Oviedo (basically Seminole County). I understand this all depends on where my job would be, but as I am getting married soon and more than likely will have a family, I want to be in a place where its a safe area for my family where my children can get a great education and I understand any city in Seminole County would be best.

Yes, Wekiva Springs Rd, around Sand Lake near Brantley.

It's basically Altamonte/Longwood. Right in between 436 and 434, easy access to I4, and very safe and clean, yet affordable.

Thanks Arcenal! Wekiva Springs looks like a great area, and very reasonable. I'm guessing Wekiva Springs is part of Seminole county too? I'm guessing rather than take I-4 (which I know is a nightmare), one could take 436 or 434 and get to Disney and Universal. When I came last to research Orlando I did not know much about the toll roads or back roads. I typically took I-4 but next time I would like to know which toll roads or back roads are common for commuters of Orlando so I can get a general idea of each location. For example, my next trip will be to drive around Lake Mary, Wekiva Springs, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, Casselberry, Oveido, Avalon Park, and check out more of the surrounding downtown communities. I know that is a lot but I'm hoping I can do this in a weekend. I want to maximize my time as much as I can. Also, I plan to talk to a few apartment communities. Can you recommend any safe and clean communities in the areas mentioned?

Yes I did mean Wekiva Springs, of which Wekiva is part of it (the planned community is simply called Wekiva, and Wekiva Springs is the area). The schools are excellent, it's very safe and is a bit more convenient if you're working say for instance in the Maitland Center area or Winter Park, or for a reverse commute to Lake Mary/Sanford. It's about equidistant to downtown Orlando as Lake Mary/Sanford due to the time required to get to I-4 since it's a good distance to the west.

What is your price range for apartments? That'll determine a lot.
