Keep right, pass left, or get a ticket in Florida-- as we get over 70% of tourist in FLA thought I'd pass this on as it was on the news .
2014 Florida Driver's Handbook, , in the section entitled "Important Law Changes," a law that "requires drivers to stay in right lane unless passing."
So, not only have you read correctly, but it's actually a law.
A list of exceptions includes passing, obstructions in the road and designated one-way traffic.
"Unless we are talking about rush-hour traffic, or where all of the cars are going the same speed, get out of the left lane," said Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes. "Move into the right or center lane, and that left lane should be for passing vehicles only."
You could, theoretically, get a ticket for not following this law. In Orange County, that ticket would cost you $164

left side slow drivers - move over!

Laws are only as good as the enforcement and it would appear it's not being enforced from what I've seen repeatedly.

If they can't even enforce the use of indicator lights, I highly doubt they'll do anything about left lane crawlers.

A traffic law that I find interesting in this area is the theoretical existence of a speed limit on I-4.

That or the 50 mph posted from Maitland on, going towards downtown. Nobody pays any attention to it. It's laughable.

A 40mph or 50mph speed limit on a major interstate highway is laughable.

I think they vary the speed limit based on how crowded they think it is. There has been times I can't go more than 50 because there are too many damn cars on I-4 near downtown. There are other times, like this past memorial where I flew from Maitland to OBT at 70+ despite the 50 MPH "speed limit"
