You're only looking at NYC from a $$$$, for a working person who is paying their own way. This is not the case here. If she had a good paying job and her company was going to transfer with her NY salary intact, than yes FL would be better.

That's not the case here, she isn't going to get what she is getting in FL, in addition she has special needs kids and the schools are awful in FL for those programs.

In this scenario she is better off staying put.
Her SSI and Section 8 absolutely are portable, and will follow her.

You're looking at the situation as if she has no interest in making the jump to get out of poverty. If that were the case, believe me, she'd never leave NYC- as she may not.

She's taking this interest, not to chase vacations eternally- but to have some kind of a dream to leave the slums of NYCHA.

Annerk said it best on here, she has significant problems that are going to follow her wherever she goes.
However, she is in no great condition to stay put- nor a great one to move to Orlando.

But- moving from abject poverty in NYC up to a better lifestyle is basically never going to happen.
Here, with the right attitude and work ethic- it could.

And my dog could sprout unicorn wings and poop glitter. Well, he could.

The OP has no work ethic. Zero. The OP has no ethics period, except the ethic of entitlement.

I agree with you, I know so many people who haven't taken a vacation in years yet work 40+ hours per week trying to pay all their bills. Anyone on welfare should be required to work for some part of the government cleaning up streets and parks and other work that a 3 year old could do and the payment is the government assistance they recieve.

Pathetic.
Thank you. We appreciate it. Truly.

Im not on welfare. Welfare is cash aid . I get ssi and food stamps and section 8. Welfare in nyc is super strict with their work requirements. I refused to do it. They wanted me to clean restrooms in a huge office building and clean the subway cars. I got a doctor's note after I walked out and refused.

I will get a job though. I want to work I just don't want to do degrading work. No one will hire me anyway . Im so depressed just thinking about a job interview. I should just apply for disability because im never going to get a job.

Why are you spending money on non essentials? Wouldn't that money be better spent at the grocery or the power bill?

So you want a job, but don't want to do degrading work (i.e., cleaning.) You know, everyone had to start somewhere, right? My first job out of HS was day labor (Able Body Labor) working with a bunch of bums and ex cons. Was it ideal? No, but it was A JOB. What is it that you don't understand? You have no work experience, so you have to start from the bottom: Get an entry-level job. There are plenty out there.
