For the NJ transplants, my husband and I are from North West New Jersey and are getting closer to making the decision to move down to the Orlando area. This will be our first out of state move and I am curious on how you went about the move. Obviously we won't be moving down without a job in place I'm in the process of seeing about a job transfer with my company. We own our house now and I'm just trying to figure out what the best course of action would be job, house for sale, move. It's just seems complicated with what order to process.

And I keep reading about the I-4 traffic is it really that bad? I've read people saying it's horrible but than they say travel could take 45mins... To me that's nothing with traffic considering I'm use to rt80 and the parkway.

Yes, I-4 traffic is bad. But no worse than traffic on the NJ highways.

The time it would take you to get from Totowa -Hackettstown NJ on Rt 80 @ 5 :00 PM is about the same time it would take you to get from Orlando - Deltona at 5:00 PM on I-4 about 45 -50 mins on any giving day....

Thanks so much for that insight! Being that we are used to that type of drive it wouldn't be something that would not be okay with. Snoop24 funny you gave that as an example my husband does the drive from Newton to Totowa for work. Were okay with that in the beginning if where we decide to move and where our jobs are that we can transfer to leave us with that type of commute until we transfer to new locations.

Being that you are from New Jersey how do you enjoy living down there? Did you move and never turn back lol?

Your husband must understand Rt 80 from Morris to Rt 15 traffic !!!! I'm still in NJ, should be moving in 2 years, but we go down to Florida 3 times a year. So I'm familiar with the traffic and roads and some areas in FL. Still researching my ultimate location... Good luck on your search...

Oh yes we both do! We are both originally from Jefferson, we both drive 15 every day. Yeah we're still in the process of researching location it's between Orlando and possibly Tampa. So we are going back and fourth bc we definitely prefer Orlando but my husband might only be able to transfer to Tampa where I can possibly go anywhere.

If you are looking at Tampa check out safety harbor and St. Pete and Clearwater..... I've seen some nice properties in those area. I'm heading down to check out a few locations in June. PM if you need anything... I go up to Jefferson about once a month to visit family, nice town. (closer to Rt 23)

im from nj originally but recently moved to orlando from CT. i have a specific situation with a son with special needs (for which i am struggling here in orlando, but am trying to make it work somehow), but other than that, i absolutely love it here. i would never return to the northeast (unless schools just dont work for my son here). i4 traffic is real and i think worse than NJ traffic. i4 is just a parking lot. if u can live somewhere to avoid the i4 commute, do that and ull be fine. its a long, convoluted process. we've been here for 9 months now and are still settling in and understanding the lay of the land.
