Hello, We are relocation and are looking into the Windermere and winter garden areas. How is it? School? Crime? Community? Etc. Is one preferred over the other? Are their any neighborhoods we should avoid? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Both are nice areas, but Windermere is the better choice overall in pretty much every category in my opinion.

The odds are the areas you are looking at are neither in Windermere or Winter Garden- just served by those post offices.

You're going to have to get into individual communities for serious feedback.
The 'Horizons' West community desperately needs it's own post office considering the growth.

We had a place all picked out in oviedo and boom we were transfer again to the other side of Orlando. So we are starting our search all over again. I've been looking in Windermere trails but I'm a little worried because stuff seems to be cheaper than other areas nearby. Also looked in watermark, twin waters and waterside communities. Any input on any of these areas or any others nearby would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I'm not familiar with the communities themselves, only the area. Twin Waters and Waterside are in a semi-rural area. You might feel a little "far out" but you're still close to the Winter Garden Village for shopping needs. Windermere Trails looks like it's closer to 535/Reams which is a busier area. Generally all of Windermere is quiet, very little crime.

The areas in red are the City of Winter Garden and Town of Windermere.
Everything else is Unincorporated Orange County. Often lumped as "Orlando".

I live in an area not outlined in red and my address is Windermere.

That's because your 'mailing' address is tied to the post office who handles your mail.
You can't vote for the Mayor of Windermere and you aren't tied to their town services.
You live in unincorporated Orange county.

If, or when, a new post office opens to service your neighborhood, unless it remains a contract station (meaning a sub post office with the same zip that handles mail through the main post office),
that post office will be assigned a new zip code and it will likely bear an Orlando mailing address.
Thus, your address would change.

You will still not live in the city of Orlando, rather the same unincorporated Orange County- the post office that delivers your mail though habitually takes on an Orlando name.

USPS gives a 1 year grace period where either zip or postal address name will be acceptable. After that point, mail addressed incorrectly may be returned to sender.

We've considered that area ourselves and if needed I could tolerate it, but would prefer elsewhere. It just doesn't seem like there is much happening in Stoneybrook in terms of future growth. You may also want to look at the proposed school zones as I hear the new Windermere High School that is getting ready to open may have an impact on that area.

Have you checked out the Horizons West/Hamlin area just a bit south?

If you want to share some info on what your looking for (Didn't see it in post history), it may be helpful.
