hello everyone

when it comes to cockroaches, is it the same as in Houston? Because I lived in Houston for a while and it was like hell for me whenever I went outside at night, since i have a serious phobia of these creatures. I should decide whether to move to Orlando or not. Please, I need your kind advice on that based on your experience.
thanks!

I hear of people complaining of roaches in their houses or apartments, but I've been lucky.

However, the lizards rule these lands...

Um... It's Florida. There are cockroaches, as well as huge palmetto bugs.

Although if critters scare you, I would think these should be among the least of your worries.

If you live in the more wooded areas, you're likely to have a few stragglers enter your house. However, if you keep it clean (free of open food. Not just filth) and sprayed, they don't stay around. Also, the ones that people generally complain about inside homes are not the big ones. They are the tiny ones that seem to reproduce at ridiculously fast rates.

I rarely see live roaches. However, I have routine pest control that comes once every two months to spray and what not. Honestly, it won't be a big difference from Houston... not much improvement, not much worse. I'll see one once a week maybe (dead one) and I'll see a live one maybe once a month. I live in a house with a foresty backyard and used to live in a house on a lake. I think it comes down to having a pest control service plan for the house and for the yard. As someone else already mentioned, lizards rule Orlando. You'll see a lot of little lizards on the sidewalks, pool screens, they are cute though.

Make sure you have a really good pest control service take care of your house, with routine visits to spray and treat every 2-3 months. Keep your house generally clean, as others have said, and the amount of bugs that get into your house should be limited.

You'll probably notice during the rainy summer months you'll have more bugs trying to get in. This is inevitable as the bugs (especially ants) do not like the rainy humid season. It comes with the territory of living in a tropical swampland

The lizards eat the bugs. I’ve seen videos of small lizards chomping on huge palmettos.

I live in south Florida and have never used a pest control service. Rarely see any roaches.
Every 6 months or so I’ll bug-bomb the house so I guess that’s helping.
