Check out Macy's which has great deals and better quality often than those rip-off mattress stores. There's several bed frames and mattress combinations on sale for $209 this weekend! Open a Macy's Credit Card and save even more bucks plus split up your payments.

i saw some of those specials, as well as americanfreight, and mattress firm, while they have good prices, some what they dont tell you it dosent include the box spring and metal frame, the mattress will be on special for like 300 bucks then they want 200 for a box spring and 70 dollars for a bed frame

i was looking more for one of those mom and pop stores, a place that dosent exactly have the most comfortable bed in the world, but descent prices and are brand new

I haven't purchased from them, but when I was in the market for a mattress, people I know in the flesh recommended Original Mattress Factory.

https://www.originalmattress.com

It doesn't meet your criteria of locally owned though.

I really like Lucid Mattresses which can be bought on Amazon. I think a Queen is around $200 and the quality is good.

Anything much under $200 going to have lot corners cut. You can buy one of those mattresses in box for around that online. I have one and its held up ok for three or four years now. Comes in what amounts to large duffel bag. You put it on old set springs or whatever platform you are using and cut the plastic and its interesting to see it expand to full size. Course once it has expanded its in effect a normal size mattress and just as much hassle to move in future. These are especially handy option if you live where moving regular mattress would be difficult (like attic room) or if you live alone with no helper. You can set one of these up first time all alone.

So much scamming on "sale" mattresses. Some are especially made for sales, not same one you would buy when not on sale.

You have to be careful about where you mattress is coming from and how it's made. You spend like a third of your life sleeping and don't want to be cutting corners to save a few bucks for something that major. Also where is your mattress coming from, where was it stored, was it wrapped/sealed after leaving where it's manufactured or left open partially open in some nasty warehouse. Supporting Mom and Pop operations is great but would urge you to choose that option in some other purchases.

oh i understand what you guys are saying, i do believe in spending good money in a mattress, like i said im buying probably everything else used except that, but the reason why im looking for a cheap place is because giving this situation i really cant afford much more than that. 2 months and im still waiting on unemployment, and i dont know when i will be returning to work so i HAVE to cut corners.

Basically it MUST be a brand new mattress, but cheap even if its hard as a brick, cuz thats all i can afford.

I did see a few guys on offerup and craigslist that sell independently, mattresses "brand new never used" for a descent price, around 275 queen INCLUDING box spring, anybody here dealt with anybody like that?

Our last two mattresses came from BedInABox.com, and they're made with a superior quality elastomeric foam. One is on a Platt & Leggett electric adjustable bed frame mounted in an heirloom bed--also from BedInABox.com.

The rest of our beds came from one of my parents' homes. They're older, but seldom used, Beautyrest mattresses with top quality mattress pads.
