Are there jobs in Lakeland? Or would you have to commute? Thanks!

I am moving from Maine to florida this summer and have narrowed down my choices to either the Orlando metro area or Lakeland. Orlando because of (probably better job opportunities) and Lakeland more quiet less crime? any thoughts on a comparison between the two? Same as previous post are there decent job opportunities in Lakeland I know Geico and Verizon are there. But just a general comparison

I know Lakeland also has Watson Clinic there (I think its the largest employer in Lakeland), also Publix Headquarters is there. Also Coca-Cola. Next year they start to build a new USF polytechnic college in North Lakeland\Auburndale (by I-4).

I live in Auburndale (about 10 minutes East of Lakeland), and commute to Orlando for work. It takes me 40 minutes. I know many people that do the same in the Lakeland Metro area. Also that commute to Tampa as well.

I love the Lakeland metro area over Orlando area 100%. Convienant to Tampa and Orlando as well as Winter Haven. Main reason I moved here from Orlando was because of my kids. Too much Urban Sprawl for me in Orlando Area. Crime, congestion, traffic, transient population, rudeness, and I don't speak spanish, just to name some other reasons.

all those areas might be a bit of a hike to Ft Meade!
Brandon is Nice but over crowded, I know nothing about Apollo Beach
and Lakeland is Nice it has every thing you would need its alot bigger of a city the the other two

But What I Wanna Know Is Hows Lakeland? We Have Not Gone Up To See It Yet But Is It A Nice Relaxed Place ? Or Is It Like Miami Where The Neighbors Have Salsa Music All The Way Up Till 3:00am.
