Hello,

First of all I would like to thank the forum for all the great advice that is posted. I have spent a lot of time reading it and found it invaluable.

My wife and I are considering moving to Florida from New Jersey. I have a work from home job that is stable, so we are trying to relocate to enjoy more warm weather (we both hate snow) and we love the Orlando area theme parks.

My question is how expensive is getting at home labor in the Oviedo/Lake Mary region? For example maids, electricians, plumbers, yard help, etc. I live in a rural area of New Jersey and these are quite expensive - $40/hour for Maid, $120/hour for Electrician or Plumber, and $30/hour for yard work.

Thanks again in advance!

Yard work you generally pay for by the month. Depending on the size of your lot it will run $85-250 a month for mow/edge/blow/ plus shrub trimming. You'll also need to pay for weeds and fertilizer, around $25/month.

Housekeeping again is generally by the visit, not hour. Anything from $80-300 depending on how often you have service and how large the home is, and exeactly the types of services you are having performed.

Plumber/electrical for a licensed, insured, legitimate service depends on the type of work, but $40-100 per hour.
