I believe Goodings problem was they expanded to quickly by adding to many stores in the Central Florida and Melbourne areas. You can still find an Albertsons in Windermere Olympia HS area.

Thanks for the replies about Goodings, everyone.

My Mom used to send me to old original location in Maitland when I was in High School. They had the best bakery in town, at that time (mid-70's). Sad to hear they're down to one location in LBV.

Orlando truly WAS a different place back then. We had front row seats to the first big boom, moving there the same year Disney opened.

No, the one here in Kissimmee @ John Young & 192 is closing as well (Dec 26th). The employees were given very little notice. I was told that there will only be one Albertson's left in the whole state of Florida, and it will be the Windermere location.

I loved Albertsons for their meat prices (especially ground beef and chicken thighs, staples in my "get out of debt" diet), but now they are pretty much all gone now.
FYI it's the same in Southwest Florida. 134 people were just laid off from the 2 Albertson stores in October in this area which leaves none in Lee County where I live.

I don't know if this makes sense...if they are pulling out, then why leave one lonely store?

If its true...then that stinks because it's my main store...and I will lose it The one in Oviedo seems fairly new, and is always busy....
