Did you guys know that they are trying to build another $55 million regional rail from Eustis and Apopka to connect with SunRail?

Well it's about F'in time... how long can the commuters from Eustis to Apopka be ignored?!

... no in all seriousness I've never even heard of Eustis. Do they go to Apopka? Does anyone really go to Apopka?

Seems like anyone can get financing for a railroad these days.

The whole system down there is planned terribly. You need to first build systems in the cities themselves and then connect them. Even though i love Rail with a passion , this is one of the worst projects i have ever seen. Orlando , Tampa , Jacksonville , The East Coast all need Regional and Light Rail before any High Speed Rail happens.

I used to visit Orlando alot , But this is one project i can say is a waste. But it seems that Florida never gets it right if you look at past Transit & some highway projects. And FYI the Lackawanna line restoration is on hold now.

I wrote Mica a long time ago that he's doing things backwards and needs to implement better buses and taxis before putting in commuter rail. Its like they're building a pyramid starting at the top level.

I am pleased that the buses improved in December but they are still a long ways from functional. I strongly believe local taxi stands in neighborhoods would be a huge boost to the economy. They would create jobs, cut down on traffic, and provide additional transit for kids, college students, and employees. I know if I had the ability to take a taxi at $1/mi with say a $3 minimum I would use that service constantly.

A vast greater number would use a Scranton to Hoboken rail line over anything in Central Florida, except possibly an airport to Disney route. There are a considerable number of commuters coming to NYC and the Jersey burbs from NE PA every day for work. Several bus lines have made a mint commuting these folks back and forth.

We are veering completely off topic, but seriously, "vast greater number" coming from Scranton to NYC? Really? I bet the number in Orlando just using the OIA to Disney section will be greater than NEPA to NJ. You can take that bet to the Mohegan Sun.

We will be having a stop here in Polk County also unsure where it will be yet but we have been approved I hope it's not to far from me. I know what you mean about most not ditching their cars due to lack of transportation but here in Polk the transportation is worse. With all of our tourist you would think we would have better transportation but Orlando is alot better then Polk County.
If they can do it in Ireland and in England we can do it here in Florida we are smaller if not the same size as them and growing in populaion ever day.

I think I will use it. I currently am without a car and i use the Lynx system daily. I know its not as elaborate as the NYC subway system, but I think it will be very usefull to Orlando residents and tourist.
