How is Davenport? We are thinking of moving and are looking at a few areas. We are looking for 3 bedrooms and a pool(4 or a bonus room if possible for a home office). We probably want to keep the budget around $250,000(I know, it's low) to about $350,000 on the high end. Would love to settle in somewhere around 300K if possible but we are also realistic so we would love suggestions f you have any for other areas.

We found a nice property for about $325,000 in Davenport off of Rt 27 down by Highlands Reserve Golf Course. Is that a good area? We also do not really want to settle down in an area that is full of short term rentals.

Thanks.

Davenport is a small town in Polk County - the zip code there is 33837. For whatever reason, Google also calls 33897 "Davenport" - the area you're talking about is 10 miles from Davenport and I would call that "Four Corners."

Kids? Work?

The Route 27 corridor is fast growing and the Four Corners area is the hottest part of it. If you're commuting towards Orlando that would be pretty hellish. If you're headed north towards West Orange it's less of a problem. It might be a slog to a lot of amenities right now but as that area builds out it will be less and less of an issue.

IMO, there are lot of better locations but you certainly won't get as much house for your money as down in that area. If you're retired those everyday concerns might not be an issue for you.

Kids are grown(21 & 25) but still live with us, but not for long most likely. I am retired and wife works from home. We are looking for a safe place(yes I know that's relative), close enough to attractions for when we want to visit or when family comes down, but far enough away to avoid the usual tourism traffic. Also best place to get what we can for our budget.
