if someone drives enough then these things start making sense.
One of he executives at work drives a volt, and he charges it while its parked in the parking garage - I am guessing on companies dime. Even if he lives 40 miles away, he's getting pretty much free commute. So the car is paying off itself as he drives.
One of the perks of being an early adopter I suppose. The rest of the world hasn't quite caught up with the idea that charging electric cars does in fact cost somebody money.

I charge mine at home. Hasn't added anything to the electric bill yet, interestingly enough. I was expecting about $20 a month for the added use, but it's at night so I seem to be catching a usage break.
People are yet again judging car brands on how they were decades ago.
The Fiat 500 is a perfectly reliable, well put together small car.
We have a Twin Air version which puts a smile on your face every time you go out in it.
I have no experience of the electric version- not sure we're even getting it in the UK, but as far as the brand goes if the Mexican built ones are as good as the European ones then that is not a real issue.
I'm seeing a lot of Fiat 500s running around these days. I don't think it's the car. It's the electric model of the car...
Very true.
There are 500's all over the place here in the Lehigh Valley in eastern PA.
My neighbor 4 doors down has a black Abarth.
I took a ride in it a couple of months ago and the performance was impressive to say the least.
As for the 500e, I've only seen one on the road thus far but if the population numbers of fiat 500's here in my area are any indication, we'll see a few more on the road shortly.
Just saw the same car advertised for $18,800 on the TV, with some models commanding up to $23,000. I think it is ugly, tiny and I sure as hell would not be paying that much for that tiny thing. Especially as it has a 0.9 liter 2 cylinder engine. Freakin LOL!!! I just can't see this car being a success in Australia. I could get a used full-size wagon or F-150 for a small fraction of that price.
Never actually seen one on the road yet...
