No idea what it’s called but those diagnostic reader things that you can buy for when your check engine light comes on. Which one do I buy for a 2015 Mustang?
Also, I have no clue how fancy these come. But nothing too cheap where it turns out to be a crappy device, and nothing too expensive. So maybe in the middle at guess it could be?
What are you trying to get out of it? If you just want engine light codes, just go cheap. A dongle plugging into your diagnostic port plus an app can be cheap. If you’re medium-advanced, you want live data fed to you directly from the sensors/computer as the car runs. That’s maybe cheap from some dongle/app combos, out to maybe $150 for other units.
What you want out of it is going to determine what you get.
I think most people are just buying dongles on Amazon or eBay and downloading an app on their phones to pull codes. I know I did that last time I needed to.
