I'm with you Sweetie Pie !!! Celery sounds good to me too...I'll start the walking when it gets a little bit warmer.

But Pam, I didn't know this type of pacing burned more calories, I will thank you when I start and I will!!!! Another awsome tip Pam....

Once I get my treadmill set up again, I'll start this. Have gained about 10 lbs. since I stopped my workout routine.

Hey, I'm upping my walking time in hopes of maintaining my present weight throughout the holidays. Last year, just by doing the extra walking, I actually LOST weight in December - and I did not skip goodies at Christmas parties.

I've known this for several years, and always alternate paces when I do my fitness walking. I've noticed that runners do this as well. They'll run for a while and then will walk briskly for a minute or two, then run again. They don't slow down because they are tired; they change pace because it is more beneficial to the heart and body.

Pam, I read about this a while back - I try to do this when my two mutts are walking me...if nothing else, the change in pace is good training for them...I can really tell if they are paying attention. The big boy does really good-he pays attention...the little girl, well...not so much...she has a MAJOR case of ADD! Anyway, it does work!

It's a simply idea to park at the far end of the parking lots and "walk" up to stores you go into. Avoid looking for a "close" open spot to park in and walk some extra minutes. You car will also suffer less dings in the side doors from "other" drivers parking too close to you.

Now, if you live in an extremely high crime area, this information may prove fatal, a luxury I can ill afford.

Where I live, the minute my tennis shoes hit the sidewalk and I see the gang members hanging about, I run, run, run as if the IRS were chasing me!

Thanks for the tip! I don't know how much walking I'll do though. Snow really kills my walking mood.
