Saturday greetings, kids! Don't let the holidays keep you from getting - or staying - fit. Walk, walk walk! To find out how to get more out of your walking regimen, scroll on down for Today's Tip!
You can boost the calorie burn of a regular 30 minute walking routine with a technique called intervaltraining. All this is, is alternating speed walking with regular moderate-paced walking. To interval walk, you’ll always want to start with at least 5 minutes of a moderate walking pace, after which you’ll speed walk at your fastest pace for 30 – 60 seconds, and then return to moderate walking again for another 5 minutes. Keep alternating your pace like this back-and-forth for the duration of your normal workout time. Every time your body readjusts to a new walking pace, you are burning up extra calories in the process.
thanks for the tip PJ8!! I have GOT to get back to walking.....I got sick and had to quit and now I'm having a hard time making myself do it!! It doesn't help that it got cold too! But I'm gonna do it and a little power walking in the mix will probably help me knock off these pounds faster!
Well, I've always out paced all my bunch! The kids were always telling me to slow down. Gbaby is now playing keep up. Poor little thing with those short little legs. Preparing to warehouse wife's ski type apparatus she got last Christmas or one before. Set it next to others I suppose! Thanks Pam ! I'll tell her. I get my exercise with G daughter in the parks...Full speed!
I can't walk now Pam, just finished my hour of banging my head against the wall, testing out todays DYK theory. I'm all worn out, gotta headache too, time to rest, maybe tomorrow. Good tip.
