I've been doing the planning, all the arranging and so on. At times I wish I'd never started with people changing their minds over details and now the day has come my daughter can't make it. Also the weather looks set to be blooming awful with heavy rain and windy conditions- part of the day is a skeet shoot.
Anyway, enough from Mr Grumpy.
Today's peeve;
Trying to get a bunch of people to agree on an event.
When I was still working I had to arrange for special days off a month in advance. Since I usually missed the grandkids birthday parties, I nailed my DIL down 6 weeks in advance to set the day for one of the upcoming birthday parties so I could get that day off and be free to attend. So she did but a couple of days before the set date, her mom (the other grandma and a SAHM) had something else planned for that day. So what does DIL do? She changes the date of the party to suit her mother. Was I PO'd?? You bet yer sweet fanny, I was.
We went through that when we were getting married...we changed the date so many times to "accomodate" that finally one day we looked at the calendar and closed our eyes and picked a date and said that is it. Turned out to be a gorgeous day in March windy 7 inches of snow the night before which made everything beautiful and by the end of our wedding day the temps reached 71*. Couldn't have asked for a better day so sometimes that irritation regarding an event turns out to be a pretty good thing in the end.
