Just what you need in the wake of your sister's passing. Honestly, I think they hire the least acceptably intelligent people to handle billing. Sorry you have to deal with that.
I guess because it was a private hospital, that's why? I have friends in the UK and they don't get bills for any health care. One American ex-pat in Scotland said the nurses laughed and could tell she was a yank after an appointment.
We've been awaiting a bill from the private hospital ward where my sister died last month.
It turns out that it was addressed and sent to HER at a wrong address and they are demanding interest payments. She actually died on their ward!
It will be dealt with in no uncertain terms.
So, today's POTD is;
When officialdom balls up.
It was a nightmare straightening out my dad's medical bills while he was ill and after he died. What a mess. These huge companies don't give a rat's patootey about us as individuals. Good peeve, Jezer.

I want single payer insurance and government control of these criminal insurance ripoff people!
A number of years ago I had problems with a “local” agency and had to deal with the “local” people handling it. After a year or more and getting nowhere I then took matters into my own hands and did some checking. I found out the “personal” address and phone number of the national CEO by doing some research and sent him a detailed letter regarding the issues. By doing that the CEO than raised hell with the local group and some people were in trouble for what they didn’t do and for dragging their feet. However at the national office people were scrambling to answer to the CEO and resolve the issue. Overall this took more than a year and a half and ended up not getting settled in my favor because of the delays. The important thing here is that “you” have to take action when things are not working the way they should; it’s up to “you” and no one else to make things right!
Pick your fights and get all the ammo you need first and then proceed to solve your issues with companies and government agencies.
A few years back I had surgery and a 2 day hospital stay.
The hospital eventually sent me the bill that my ins did not pay.
I promptly paid it only to find out 2 days later that my ins company made another payment.
I called the hospital and asked for the refund of my money and some woman tried to convince me to leave that money with the hospital under my account for future hospital stays.
I can count on one hand the number of hospital stays I had in my entire life.
I asked her if she was joking and demanded she mail ny refund or I would drive the 30 miles to get it face to face.
A Band-Aid at the hospital will cost you $10 to cover the cost of the hospital CEO who makes multiples of millions. That’s having to sell lots of them to cover his paycheck.
Thanks for the good wishes, and sorry to hear your own stories.
Here things have been put right. The hospital manager is suitably apologetic and is looking into the situation more fully.
I'm glad to hear they listened to you, Jezer, and that they are working things out.

She mailed it !
