You got that right! The fires were talked about unceasingly until the Aurora shootings happened.
(Unfortunately we also have the unsolved JonBenet murder and the Columbine killings too...)
(I know these are not frivolous stories though, not like "celebrity" news)

Just so that people are aware- the Peeve Of The Day (POTD) is a thread that was handed to me by the previous incumbent.
It's a daily thread whereby that incumbent, currently me, chooses the POTD and fellow peevers respond to it accordingly.
There are other daily threads like Question Of The Day, Tip of The Day and the Didja Know thread, again hosted by specific forum members
I didn't start this or did I make up the rules- that's how it's been well before me and will be continued, I hope, by some other poor unsuspecting individual in the future.
That all sounds a bit pompous, but the point I'm making is that I ask that the POTD sticks to the daily agenda.
It's great to see others posting here with there own peeves, but there are threads for that. I hope that they will stick around and contribute to the POTD.
