Mornng, MidwesternBookWorm! How nice of you to start our week with a question -- getting grey matter moving. I hope you, and all the TQOD forum had a great weekend, and an even better week is ahead.

Today’s Question(s):
What is your favorite go-to remedy for aches and pains?

I have scoliosis and the skeletal misalignment is the source of joint pain just about everywhere, but mostly in my back, hips, and knees. A break to my ulna gives me pain in my right elbow. Years ago, after learning about my daily massive doses of aspirin, my doctor insisted I start taking at least 720 units of ethel esters of fish oil omega-3. It helps tremendously and now I have only a couple of aspirin at night, unless I've gone overboard on my activities.

Extra Credit Question:
When you were a youngster, did you ever set up a lemonade stand?

Dad and Mom had small community green grocery stores from the time I was five until she left him when I was eleven. I was put to work cleaning and stocking shelves, and repricing cans. One might say it was a rather large fruit stand, but I never earned more than my room and board.

Bonus Question:
What radio station did you listen to as a teenager?

Then: WRGD -- rock and roll
Now: KINGFM for classical, and KPLU for jazz and NPR.

Just for Fun:
Quintessa the QOTD Fairy is visiting today! She’s on the hunt for questions, and she wants to know what question would YOU like to ask our QOTD family?

Oh, how fun!
I would love to know what each believed was the most significant event in their lives, and if they felt they were substantially changed by it?

Today in History:
1775 – The Spanish establish the Presidio San Augustin del Tucson, which later became Tucson, Arizona
I lived there for 12 years and have often visited Presidio Park, but never knew it was that old.
1965 – The Rolling Stones release Satisfaction, their first number-one US hit
I never understood the attraction to the Beatles, but the first time I saw the Stones on the Ed Sullivan show -- I was 9 -- I was a rocker!
1988 – A cease-fire in the Iran-Iraq War is agreed upon
If only we could cease our warlike tendencies.

Today’s Word:
Dehisce \dĭ hĭs\ v.
1. To open at definite places, discharging seeds, pollen, or other contents, as the ripe capsules or pods of some plants
2. To rupture or break open, as a surgical wound.

Today is:
A great day to be alive to life's magic. Happy Now, everyone!

Today’s Question(s): Yippee-I-O-Ty-Aaaaa! The turkeys are feeding right now!

What is your favorite go-to remedy for aches and pains?
~ Drink a bunch of tall beers.

When was the last time you had recourse to said remedy?
~ Saturday.

Has your preferred remedy ever not worked for you?
~ Nope!

If so, how did you alleviate the pain?
~ If needed, 1000 milligrams of acetaminophen.

Extra Credit Question:

When you were a youngster, did you ever set up a lemonade stand?
~ Nope. I set up a beer stand.

If so, did you at least make enough to cover your expenses?
~ I made good profit.

Those who are parents, have your young ones ever tried being lemonade entrepreneurs?
~ I'm not a parent.

Have you ever bought a nice ice-cold cup of sweet-tart lemonade from a child on a hot summer day?
~ Heck no! Yuck!

Bonus Question:

What radio station did you listen to as a teenager?
~ WABC AM in my early teens.....(Cousin Brucie, Wolfman Jack)
~ WNEW FM in mid teens.

What format of music did it play?
Rock and top 40 kind of rock & stuff.

What music format does your current favorite radio station play?
~ None. I don't ever listen to the radio. Never.
Satellite radio is good!

Just for Fun:

Quintessa the QOTD Fairy is visiting today! She’s on the hunt for questions, and she wants to know what question would YOU like to ask our QOTD family?

(QOTD hosts might borrow your reply for a future daily thread!)

~ Mine are being saved for one day when I get to do the QOTD.

Today is:

Bamboo Day ~ Oh, yes! I remember that brand! Long, thin papers that made for a good joint, but you really had to be good at rolling and take care not to have any stems rupture it! If that happen, then you had to either re-roll it or put your finger over the rupture when you take a hit. Didn't they have a choice of the edge with glue or the edge without? The glue edges were the best, otherwise whoever did the rolling had to put the whole joint in their mouth to sort of wet-seal the thing. Funny....nobody ever minded that back then.....
National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day ~ I don't eat that.
National Radio Day ~ If it ain't satellite, throw it in the garbage.
Stay-at-Home with Your Kids Day ~ Yeah, someone's home far away and let them "stay-at-home" with them. ......
Pony Express Day ~ One of my girlfriends used to put her hair into a beautiful ponytail in about 2 seconds!
National Lemonade Day ~ I want some pink lemonade, please! While you're at it put a couple of shots of vodka in there, okay?

Excellent job with the QOTD, Wormie! HappyWishes and luscious turkeys and treats to you all! May your wings be crisp and your breasts be big and juicy!

I listen mostly to all news stations. There are two in my area -

WTOP and WNEW.

Sometimes I listen to the classic rock station WBIG but they have a habit of playing the same songs over and over. Plus, since they changed formats several years ago they play way too much metal which I do not like.

I like fun stuff like music and sports. But I rarely see sports questions so my guess is there are not many fans. Maybe that wouldn't work here.

Last concert or sporting event attended
Favorite sport to watch or play
Last CD listened to
Current favorites or most listened to songs or CD's

I had more but I lost my post.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I have called an audible. Because of the beautiful weather in the Chicago Suburbs this weekend will be extended through Tuesday

Today’s Question(s):

What is your favorite go-to remedy for aches and pains?
I have had 2 back surgeries, 3 elbow surgeries, bi=lateral carpel tunnel surgery, a rotator cuff repair and nerves in my right leg that make my ankle so weak I have to wear a brace to keep from falling. I live with constant pain. My docs have prescribed Norco 3 times a day. I don't always take all three. When pain is extra severe I tale all 3.

When was the last time you had recourse to said remedy?
Yesterday, after a 13 hr day at the track Sat I had a very difficult time getting down the stairs yesterday morning.

Has your preferred remedy ever not worked for you?
Not yesterday.

If so, how did you alleviate the pain?

Rest

Extra Credit Question:

When you were a youngster, did you ever set up a lemonade stand?
NO

If so, did you at least make enough to cover your expenses?

Those who are parents, have your young ones ever tried being lemonade entrepreneurs?
No

Have you ever bought a nice ice-cold cup of sweet-tart lemonade from a child on a hot summer day?

I don't like lemonade but I will stop and give the kids the cost of 2 glasses if there is an adult close by. I don't want anyone to think I'm a pervert giving kids money.

Bonus Question:

What radio station did you listen to as a teenager?
I was "Movin and grovin and having a ball with Cousin Bruce" on WABC in NY

What format of music did it play?
Rock and Roll

What music format does your current favorite radio station play?
I still occasionally listen to Cousin Bruce on Serrius 6. Mostly I listen to Southern Gospel.
