I've been thinking of calling someone to cut down a couple of trees. Scared of the price but they're dying and it's time.
Me too. I've got a Tree-of-Heaven tree (Ailanthus altissim) that my wife has allowed to grow into a massive tree in our almost inaccessible postage stamp sized back yard in the city and I fear to seek a price on having the unwanted Chinese gift removed.

Have someone coming for an estimate later this week. He'll call me ahead so I can take a tranquilizer.

I rented a large man-lift from Home Depot ($300/day) a few years ago to cut down a tree in my front yard but age and fear of heights have definitively caught up to me. Then too, this T of H tree is way in the back of my lot, and behind a cinder block wall.
Maybe I should take advantage of NM's new medical marijuana laws and go ahead and rent the thing again?

I had 2 trees in the back yard on a slope that were 60+ years old that were getting pretty big. Wife saw a neighbor having a tree trimmed in his yard.
Asked the guy to take a look about cutting down and removal. 2 hours and $100.00 trees were gone.
Look for a Gardner in your area they might be able to do or know someone that can. With a try.
I think I could find someone to tackle a tree like this out here at the Texas farm because it is so open but probably not in Albuquerque where everything is so close together.
Reminds me though that there is a large Chinese elm I need to cut down by my pumphouse before it grows back into my new well pump like it had in the old well.
Like the tumbleweed which is a cursed present to the Southwest from Russia, and the Tree of Heaven from China, the Chinese elm is another foreign "gift" to American agricultural and home owners.
