Happy New Year! Welcome to the Question of the Day for Sunday, January 1, 2017. If your birthday is today, you were born under the sign of Capricorn. Some famous people who share your birthday are silversmith and U.S. patriot Paul Revere; Betsy Ross, the seamstress who designed the first American flag; FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover; photographer Alfred Stieglitz; authors E.M Forster and J. D. Salinger; baseball legend Hank Greenberg; U.S. presidential candidate Barry Goldwater; actor Dana Andrews; actress Carole Landis; boxer Rocky Graziano; British spy Kim Philby; and cartoonist B. Kliban.

Today’s Questions:
Did you go out New Year's Eve? Nope, I stayed home with the stereo on and a good book in my hands. If so, what did you do, and with whom?

Are you looking forward to 2017? Sure. Why or why not? Beats the heck out of the alternative.

Bonus Questions:
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2016? The loss of some good friends.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2016? I woke up every morning.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2017? Pretty much the same thing. I will wake up and try to spread kindness where I can and some places where it might be a little more difficult.

Just for Fun:
What is the weather like in your region today? Should be sunny and in the mid to high 60's.

Happy New Year to all of you.

Today’s Questions:
Did you go out New Year's Eve? If so, what did you do, and with whom?
- Nope. Right I'm in the middle of my sleep.

It's a very active night and I'm glad I did not go out. I've been up for about 40 minutes and I have heard 3 spaced out police sirens off in the distance so far...
That is probably what woke me up.

Just heard a speeding car. Probably the police again but maybe some idiot acting stupid under the influence.

It's usually quiet here. One thing obviously missing that I did not hear was fireworks. That is what usually wakes me up on this day. Can't remember the last time I did not hear them go off at midnight...

Are you looking forward to 2017? Why or why not? - There is nothing I can think of to look forward to. I'm scared of the upcoming administration and I'm not liking anything what I have heard so far.
But I expected that...

Probably the reason why I did not hear the fireworks...

Bonus Questions:
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2016?
- Same old and despite best efforts, no change that I really need. Speaking mainly of lack of health insurance and an almost non-existant social life.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2016? - Had a few good days here and there...

What do you hope to accomplish in 2017? - Gainful employment with affordable health insurance would be nice...
Yes, just changed jobs. I did it in hopes for a better future. We'll see...

Just for Fun:
What is the weather like in your region today?
- Supposed to be sunny and about 50 degrees (10 Celsius).
It's been unusually nice so far for this time of year.

Thank you, Bay.
Good Sunday wishes for all!

Hoping for the best in 2017...

In the afternoon curtailed very early due to the heavy rainstorms. Then, so warm & cozy at home afterwards w/the sound of the rain in the background, fell fast asleep way before the New Year arrived ... last of the big partiers!

If so, what did you do, and with whom?
Watched (w/family & friends) the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide beat #4 Washington 24-7 in the college football Peach Bowl semifinal! Tide rolling onto the National Championship 01/09/17 against Clemson!

Are you looking forward to 2017?
Absolutely!

Why or why not?

Why not indeed , life is good and living it well even better!

Bonus Questions:
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2016?
'Twas a very good year!

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2016?
I'm still here to see 2017 in!

What do you hope to accomplish in 2017?
Enthusiastically see 2018 in!

Just for Fun:
What is the weather like in your region today?
Warm 70s w/lots of rain for the last day of 2016 that continues on into 2017 for a few days, then cooler, then warmer, then cooler, then warmer...
Thanks Bay for 2017's 1st QotD, best to you & yours!

Happy 2017 All!

Today’s Questions:
Did you go out New Year's Eve? If so, what did you do, and with whom?

No.

Are you looking forward to 2017? Why or why not?

I have to get past January, which I'm already dreading. My birthday is in January and I don't like birthdays and I got a summons for Jury Duty near the end of January that I'm already stressing out about.

Birthdays and Jury Duty can bugger off.

Bonus Questions:
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2016?

Anything I think of I realize it was me just blowing something out of proportion and it wasn't really all that bad of a thing.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2016?

Nothing eventful that I can think of.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2017?

I really don't know yet.

Just for Fun:
What is the weather like in your region today?

Cloudy, high of 75.

Happy New Year Shep and all.

Today’s Questions:
Did you go out New Year's Eve? If so, what did you do, and with whom?

For the first time in years Mrs J and I stayed at home alone for what could well be our last New Year's Eve in the UK for a few years. Miss J finally managed to get back to Italy nearly a day late, courtesy of fog, and had a lovely NYE over there.

Are you looking forward to 2017? Why or why not?

Yes. We are making major changes and will be abroad for much of the year, possibly looking to make France our main residence.

Bonus Questions:
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2016?

Serious health scare to someone close to me, and secondly the result of the Brexit referendum.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2016?

Mrs J retiring early. Making the decision to live abroad and securing a house in France.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2017?

Finalise the house purchase, then spend time remodeling parts of it. Maybe sell the house here. It's going to be a very busy year.

Just for Fun:
What is the weather like in your region today?

Grey, damp and boring.

Thanks Shep- Bayarea.
