I once opened two Christmas Club savings accounts: one for a little girl about seven or eight yeats old; the other for myself. Hers was generous for a child; mine, much larger. Came time for the bank to send out all the Club checks. They sent mine to her and hers to me. They did make it right at my end. No idea how they handled the other end. I let her mother handle that.

Hazel, That was kind of you to assist a child financially.

It's a whole learning bit, or one's tries to make it a learning tool. Good for you, I'm glad you did this.

Children need to learn early. Get in the habit.

I remember getting a passbook when I opened my first savings account in May or June 1975.

[quote=Just Peachy;60458650]Girls had to wear skirts or dresses

Even after they allowed girls to wear slacks to school my mom wouldn’t let me and always made me wear a dress or skirt.(I remember having to wear a dirndl to school) when she came home from a trip from Germany she brought my brother a pair of lederhosen. It was the one time I would speak up to my mom and told her that it would be awful if she made my brother wear them to school.
I would sneak out a pair of slacks and change into them in the alley behind our house before going to school.
