now i am only 32, and yes i still listen to music loudly in the car--especially when i am alone.
but today i was on my car and the kid behind me had his bass so high that MY eardrums were pulsating--and my little one was in the car. i know if my ears hurt, it must have done the same for my son.

my father suffers from meniere's disease, and i know the ill effects noise can make on the ears. he spent 6 months in bed unable to get up without bumping into walls from the dizziness.
a family freind has lost 85% of her hearing, can no longer drive or work from the same disorder.--still very young
so public service announcement: turn the music down!!

You should know by now, the people who are thumping their bass (and inevitably with all four windows rolled all the way down for maximum exposure) aren't doing it for the enjoyment of their music - they have a bad case of the lookatmes. For this reason, I go out of my way not to pay them even a glance - and secretly laugh inside at how foolish they appear to the public at large.

Agreed.

These dumb asses are going to go deaf.

It's even worse when you see a kid in THEIR car!

Bass isn't bad for the ears... it's the treble that's bad for the ears.

Just thought I'd pass that along.

I'm always disappointed that no one bumps a song I actually like.

I always get a giggle when the equipment cost more than the actual car it's sitting in, or when the whole car vibrates because it's not set up properly.

BTW: Not meaning to be picky, but doesn't turning the bass down make it louder and turning it up softer?

Research too, has shown that those outrageous bass frequencies, on a frequent basis, is damaging, so maybe those people just cant hear??
Im SO waiting for someone to shatter their own window from that, heck, mine rattle from 3 cars away at a light!
And I agree, its all about the 'lookatme' attitude.
Whas even funnier, is listening to someone cranking up the music in a car where the speakers are all distorted, ad they drive by smiling, rockin out, (or in that case, rappin' out) to blown speakers!!

This is a pet peeve of mine. I find it extremely rude and invasive. Why should I be subjected to this painfull noise? Do police ever pull these guys over?
