It's coming up Saturday. So do you celebrate it at all? Do you send valentines? If you are married or have a "sweetie," do you exchange cards and/or gifts? Do you usually do anything special?

I usually do send out some valentines to my mother, mother-in-law and various and assorted friends & family. My husband and I do usually exchange cards/gifts. (Probably not gifts this year because money is tight and we are going out with friends to kind of a "pricey" place.) Our church is also having a Valentine's banquet Friday night at a local restaurant and we are planning to attend that. A lot of times we don't go out (now that we're old!) because we don't want to fight the "Valentine's evening crowd!" This year some friends invited us, though, and we do have reservations.

I used to send out cards to my parents and to dh's parents. Didn't last year, but did give them flowers.

I also get my kids a little something...stuffed animals when they were small with a balloon and candy, now they get a card and a little happy.

This year, I will be spending Valentines Day on the baseball field watching my youngest play ball.

Nope, I sit at home and put my feet up, content in the knowledge that none of the corporations are getting at my money.

We exchange cards and maybe small gifts. But come to think of it... we do that all year long for no reason other than love.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Now you've done it, kaykay!

I just realized it's Wednesday, and I haven't sent out any cards. I used to be sooooo good.

~~~
I'm a BIG fan of holidays--ANY holiday. It's always fun to celebrate. But I just about rebelled a couple of years ago when I was in the Big City and saw Valentine's Day baskets (much like Easter baskets). My own personal philosophy is that we should be expressing our love to those closest to us on a daily basis, so I've never gone in for showy Valentine's Day celebrations. However . . . cards, candy, flowers, a nice dinner, etc. may all be appropriate, in moderation. At our home, we always have a special dinner with a heart-shaped cheesecake. If I remember, I'll make heart-shaped pancakes or cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
~~~

The church I attended as a teen/young adult always had a Sweetheart Banquet for Valentine's Day. Special memories!
