I'd like to see, the gratuity built into the price on any service where tipping is expected.

There are too many people who will stiff a waiter/waitress on a tip, thus I can see that if the gratuity is built into the price of the meal/service this wouldn’t happen. However I have had very poor service that I didn’t want to tip. Most of the time I always give the 20% for anyone who is giving me good service when dining out. I also give more for exceptional service and there are some excellent waiters/waitresses out there that deserve it. Problems with the food or kitchen are not the fault of the waiter/waitress and is not calculated in their tip; however if the food was bad I will write about it on the back of the credit card receipt for the manager/owner to view.

I'd like to suggest that all businesses pay their employees from their substantial profits. Not expecting the public..their customers to pay their employees separately for doing their job. How many employees in other lines of work must depend on the good will of customers for their take home pay??? If these businesses truly don't charge enough for meals to pay their help let them falter or pay the price. I tip but don't follow imaginary guide lines .........
Spoiler
NO Tip !!! No imaginary percentages!!!

I am with Studedude. No other business reaps benefits from customers and pays help so little-depending on the customer to give these people a living wage.

I'm with Zonababe ...Truth in advertising please!!!!!!!!!!!!! Show me your rock bottom price. The price of your meal should include all their expenses. Period!! Why wouldn't it??? Makes beggars out of food servers. Of course these people deserve a decent wage and that's what they should get. Not someones paltry hand out... a wage...taxable of course!!

I'd like to see an end to all frequent flier miles and discount cards for grocery stores, etc. Just give us the lowest price you can without making us play games. How much money/time is spent on these things?

I've got a tip for some of the CEOs that are working in corporations today! Maybe they could take a pay cut and give a pay increase to their employees. Wonder what the wages are for CEOs of many national chain restaurants is? And how much they pay their help?

I did a Google search and found that the average salary for CEOs in the restaurant industry was $610,170 in 2007. The CEO of Yum! Brands Inc. (which owns Pizza Hut, A & W, KFC, Long John Silver's and Taco Bell) got 1.3 million. This was not counting bonuses and other compensation such as stock incentives which can add several million more.

Remember that not all states pay their servers the same. In Az they pay you 2.25 hr and expect your tips to compensate the rest. But what many dont know is they will tax you on the amount of sales in your shift. Example, you did a dinner hour shift, say 4-10pm. Your ticket sales totaled 400.00 that night. Whether or not you made 40 bucks in tips, you will still be taxed that 10% of your ticket sales. I know this because I worked a truck stop, Carrows and a coffee shop out there and payday was almost not even looking at your checkstubs, it was pathetic. So good service AND tips are crucial in Az. Not sure how that rule applies to other states but again, states differ in food servers' pay. And unless you work a real expensive dinner house or a really nice bar, tips arent as good as many may think.
