Definitely Gatineau.

Overall the population in Gatineau (60-65%) is twice as bilingual as that of Ottawa (30-35%).

Would you say most Gatineauans are as fluent in English as you?

No. There are some but they are nowhere near the majority even within the bilinguals. A lot of the super-bilinguals living in Gatineau are not originally from Quebec but are francophones from the other provinces. So they have really good English from where they grew up plus their French has not really lapsed either because they are now living in a francophone environment in Quebec. The super-bilinguals who are from Quebec tend to be people with one francophone and one anglophone parent.

I find that that's largely true, although there's another class of super bilinguals, certain people from allophone communities that straddle linguistic communities, like Italian Montrealers.

Good point. We have some of those as well in Gatineau and Ottawa, but it's not nearly as prevalent as in Montreal.

I'd be very interested in seeing stats on cities with the most ''tri-linguals''. I have a strong suspicion Montreal would rank very highly, dare I say top 5 in the world in terms of sheer number and % of speakers.

2nd generation Quebeckers living in Montreal speak three languages by default. Or so it seems.

That's a universally understandable language, a kind of Esperanto...

There is certainly an educational trend here in Montreal to include Spanish as a 3rd language from an early age. Most preschoolers are exposed to about 30 minutes of Spanish per week, it's standard now.
