My husband and I have this ongoing argument about naming our (future) baby boy Huckleberry. He thinks it would be cool that we get to call him Huck. I think the full name is unusual, and our son might get teased a lot growing up. I thought he was joking at first but I realized that he's pretty serious about it. What do you think of the name?

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind is the potential for other kids to call him what it rhymes with!

No. Zimbo is absolutely correct.

Give a kid a nutty name and the other kids will latch onto it and make his life miserable. I can see Finn if you are a huge Twain fan.

Lets play the Name Game....

Huck Huck, bo buck
Banana, fanana fo ---ummmm
Fee Fi mo muck
Huck.....

I love unique names but on this one I say if you are a huge Twain go with Finn. But if you guys really love the name then pray no one plays the Name Game.

BTW my husband is dying for me to name this baby Clint and all I can think of is kids with lisps calling him...

Think of what it will look like on a resume someday....it may sound "cute" now (to some) ....but he will grow up....and if he turns out to be a corporate attorney for instance or a CEO ..... It's important to think ahead with regard to names....

Maybe name him Huck and then call him Huckleberry as a pet name. This kid WILL grow up and have to fill out resumes. He also could be up for teasing in school or oh my gosh....the military.

I think it's a really cute name, but there is more to consider down the road and it really wouldn't be fair to him as an adult.

Unless your husband wants his kid to be beaten up on the playground every day, tell him to quit being such a dolt and give him a normal name.

Yep I must agree that is a stupid name . If you guys are big mark twain fans then call him finn or phineas but not the other . and if you choose phineas then please call him finn for short . It sounds far better than huckleberry . Phineas is a fine name and very popular these days .

My grandmother's maiden name is Huckleberry. When my mother is asked "What is your mother's maiden name?" as a security question, and she answers "Huckleberry" people smile, laugh or ask if she is kidding.
