I have a 19year old daughter who attends college and has a great couple of tutors. She is struggling with behaviour often walks out, lashes out at objects, either hyperactive and giggle or annoyed and quiet, or angry. swears a lot. Will flip over anything.
Teachers say her work is good when she concentrate, we have begun a diary between home and college where we comment in and we see how she gets on. This only started last week. Rewars are usually stickers, extra time at lunch etc.
She doesnt sleep much either, she is like a night owl! college tutors are vety supportive and never give up on her when she flips, lastweek the tutor sat ok the floor with her to calm her
I am just wondering can we improve anymore. Any help and supported would be great
Symptoms similar to ADHD.
I was against medicating children until I researched the risk of untreated ADHD. They are at a much higher risk of smoking by age 16, alcohol and drug abuse.
Even if you are against medication (I don't know that you are) might be wise to take her to the dr, they have questionnaires for parents and teachers to fill out. It could also be just a mood disorder that an anti-depressant can help. (not just for depressed people)

Sounds like you'd better get her tested for "mood disorders". Drug screening might not be a bad idea either....of course, if she has mood disorders, she could be self-medicating. It sounds like you really care, so take some serious action. It would be a darn good idea to start going back over her early childhood behaviors as well. Write down her behavioral history, as much as you can remember. It can help greatly in helping a doctor with a diagnosis!

Reading it and looking at the age, my first thought was bipolar. Of course, I'm not a psychologist, or an -ologist of any kind, or a doctor for that matter. So, my advice is to take her to an -ologist or doctor and find out what's wrong. If my 19 year old was motivated by stickers and extra lunch time in between her rapid mood swings...I think I would have drug them to the -ologist long before posting on the internet.
